The Jacotin Scholarship

Since launching the Jacotin Scholarship in 2024, we have sponsored 25 students in Haiti who have the drive to learn but lack the means to attend school. In 2026, the Kappa Epsilon Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. sponsored 10 full-year scholarships, a partnership that brought us closer to our goal of 100 sponsored students by 2027. Every scholarship funded means one more child with the stability to stay in school and build a future.

Roggy Jacotin, Founder of the Jacotin Foundation

Our Story

It started with a suitcase.

It began in sixth grade, on a trip to my parents' homeland, Haiti, where I saw beauty, resilience, and joy alongside poverty in a way I had never experienced. Children my age with nothing. No shoes. No school supplies. No guarantee of a meal. I looked down at my suitcase full of clothes and did not think twice. I gave it all away.

I came home changed. And growing up, I had my own quiet battle. I struggled with my weight, and even in the comfort of my own home, with food on the table and a bed to sleep in, I learned how deeply a child's body can affect their confidence, their focus, and their belief in what is possible for them. I was never hungry. I was never without. But I understood, in my own small way, what it feels like when your body becomes a barrier between you and the life you are trying to live.

What started as one suitcase grew into annual shipments of clothing, food, backpacks, and school supplies. Then, tuition sponsorships for students who deserved the chance to learn. Partnerships with community leaders who shared the vision.

Funding it was no easy feat, but determination pushed me forward. From birthday money to odd jobs, every cent found its purpose. My family stood beside me, unwavering, and together we made this mission a reality.

It was not built on big grants. It was birthday money. Late nights. My family standing beside me without question. Every dollar had a purpose and every purpose had a face.

Compassion is not a resource that runs out. The more we give, the more there is to give.
